Synergy Microsystems Forms Alliance Partnership With Wind River

San Diego CA, April 2004 - Synergy Microsystems, Inc. (Synergy), a leading developer of board-level solutions for real-time embedded applications, has announced it has formed an alliance partnership with Wind River, the global leader in device software optimization.

The partnership provides Synergy with early access to next-generation, market-specific Wind River Platforms and software development licenses for a range of real-time operating systems and development environments. By optimizing the company's high-performance VxWorks Board-Support Packages (BSPs) for these platforms, Synergy engineers enable customer programs to benefit from this early technology access by speeding time to market for new applications while ensuring forward- and backward-compatibility.

"This partnership formalizes the close collaboration we have had with Wind River over the past several years. It will allow us to work even more synergistically with Wind River engineers at earlier stages of development to maximize the performance of our single-board computers (SBCs) and BSPs on current and future versions of VxWorks, the industry's leading real-time operating system," said Synergy CEO Thomas Powell. "Ultimately, it's a win for our customers, who will receive hardware/software systems that run better, faster, and more reliably at significantly lower development costs."

"We're delighted to be able to engage more closely with Synergy - a top-tier provider of ultra-reliable, high-performance SBCs," said Steve Blackman, senior director of business development, aerospace and defense, for Wind River. "Synergy's proven track record of design wins illustrates how they are able to deliver the complete range of cost-effective solutions that OEMs and their customers need to optimize their device software development."

The seamless migration of applications to new and more complex platforms hinges on the ability of hardware and software vendors to work closely together, noted Powell. "Customers need to be assured there will be no compromises in reliability and performance in their technology refresh programs. As systems become more complex, closer collaboration between all technology partners is vital."

Powell said that he welcomed the updates that Wind River was making to VxWorks 6.0 and the Wind River Workbench. "Absolute determinism and high-availability are must-haves, especially in the aerospace and defense sector. We welcome the fact that VxWorks 6.0, which is the foundation for Wind River Platforms, delivers state-of-the-art memory protection and improved error-detection and reporting mechanisms."

Synergy officials said specific support for Wind River Platforms will be announced soon.

Synergy Awarded Boeing's Top Quality Award For Second Consecutive Year

San Diego CA, May 2004 - Synergy Microsystems, Inc. (Synergy), a leading developer of board-level solutions for real-time embedded applications, announces it has received Boeing's highest recognition of supplier excellence, the Gold Supplier Quality rating, for the second year in a row. Synergy received Gold ratings in two separate categories for single-board computers (SBCs) it supplied to Boeing's military and space divisions.

To achieve the gold-level quality ratings, Synergy delivered all products to Boeing with zero defects over a 12-month period, as reported in the aerospace company's latest documentation on supplier performance. Additionally, Synergy delivered the boards on schedule 100 percent of the time.

"The Gold ratings are especially noteworthy this year in that they reflect both Synergy's out-of-box (OOB) performance and on-time delivery of multiple shipments made to six different Boeing sites," according to Synergy CEO Thomas Powell. "The fact that Synergy received the Gold rating again this year is a testament to the quality-assurance programs we have in place."

"The excellent experience Boeing has received is reflective of the way Synergy does business with all its customers,"Powell added. "Synergy prides itself in having the ability to delivery the highest quality product within the strictest deadlines."
