How does the VITA Standards Organization (VSO) conduct meetings?
The VITA Standards Organization (VSO) meets every two months with a combination face-to-face and virtual meeting. This is a two-day meeting with the first few hours dedicated to brief updates from all of the active working groups, any guest presentations, and VITA updates. Once those are done, we start working group meetings. These can run from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. They run until usually about noon the second day. The VSO meetings are held in various locations throughout the US. The start time is 8 AM local time. The home page of the VITA website lists the date and location of the upcoming meetings.
The working groups also hold separate meetings via Zoom throughout the month. The frequency is dependent on the stage they are in and how much activity is going on. This can vary from weekly to monthly. These meetings are at various times in the day. Scheduling is dependent on the participants and is usually adjusted to allow international participation via virtual meetings.
As a VITA member you have the option to join any of the active working groups which gives you access to the meetings, documents, minutes, etc. At this point, we have about a dozen active working groups.
